There are two things driving me nuts about this.

One is all the people who are on the 'bash Justin' bandwagon.

If anyone wants bashing, IMO, it's not Justin, it's the damned writers who just have to have  bloody Mikey involved in things that really really do not concern him.  "He's Brian's best friend" they sit around chanting in an all too familiar whine. "He needs to be there for him."

Crap! Crap! and more crap!  The truth is that they are throwing Mikey as much screen time as they can to try to placate the Mikey fans for not having a hope in hell of seeing him and Brian together.  Which explains not only this current fiasco, but also the father-to-be scenario, and monstrousities like "Dumpling".

The other thing that is driving me nuts is the brigade of Justin defenders who are going "oh, but Justin needs someone to talk to about his problems".

Hello?  best friend, remember?  Person he's still living with?  The one who has always been a Brian supporter, always supported their relationship, always given Justin good advice about their relationship, and who... now what was the other thing?  Oh, yes.  She's a med student.

If ever there was anyone ideally placed to be the person Justin goes to about this, it's Daphne.

But that wouldn't have suited the C/L agenda of 'we need to show Mikey being a supportive friend to both of them', so hang the logic, hang what it says about Justin and his insecurities that he would bring Mikey into this, hang everything, as usual, except their tunnel vision of what they want the outcome to be.  As usual.  IMO it's just bloody S2 sloppy writing and stupidity all over again.

And, until the episode is shown and they dumbfound us with perfectly logical reasons for this conversation, that's how I see it.

I agree about the screentime, but I'm not so sure about the reasons behind it. For the last few episodes in particular, QAF seems to have become The Mikey Show. It disgusts me that Mikey has been gratuitously inserted into a storyline that has nothing whatsoever to do with him. I'm not sure what the reason is, but I'm leaning towards the theory that Cowlip actually think Mikey is adorable. (Boy, do I have news for them.) This may be a misguided effort to create a friendship between Michael and Justin, whcih I don't mind in theory, but they're going about it in exactly the wrong way.

Until 410 airs, I'm clinging to the faint hope that Michael finds out on his own, without Justin telling him. That would make the whole thing marginally more palatable. And even if it does turn out that Justin tells Mikey, I'm not going to blame Justin. The real Justin would never do that. I'm going to blame Cowlip!

I think you're 100% right. Case in point...the QAF coffee table book.

"In many ways, Michael is the emotional center of the show," says Daniel Lipman. "Michael is the Everyman. And he is flawed, like the Everyman. Michael has lied and he has been a coward. But he's sweet and adorable, so sometimes you overlook that. But he basically has a very good heart and I think that he is somebody who will succeed in becoming a man."

There you have it. Lipman thinks we should ignore everything and anything Michael ever messes up on because he's "sweet and adorable".

Yes. I always have the feeling that they both identify very strongly with the Michael character and simply can't/don't want to see what so many of us find so objectionable about him.

Let's face it, there are three ways Mikey could find out about the problem.

Scenario A is that Justin blurts out his problem to Mikey ... in which case Mikey's proper response would be to take Justin aside and quietly suggest that maybe Brian wouldn't like everyone knowing his business and then maybe, maybe, suggesting that there's this Chinese herbalist that Ben goes to who may be able to help. That's it. Then he backs off and lets Justin go off there on his own.

Scenario B is that Mikey finds out accidentally some other way, in which case he either discusses it with Brian or mentions to Justin that he doesn't want to butt in, but there's this Chinese herbalist ...

Scenario C is that Brian tells him, in which case his proper course of action is to say to Brian, well, there's this Chinese herbalist ...

In no circumstance is it natural, normal, desirable, for Mikey to be the one going up to the counter and asking for the remedy. No way. No how. Brian's sexual performance is simply not in any conceivable universe any of Mikey's damned business.

Except ... this is C/L and ... like you say ... anything Mikey does is just so cute, isn't it?

Well, actually, no ... but they don't seem to get that.

Yes, sigh. They do. Which is so sadly misguided of them.

Until 410 airs, I'm clinging to the faint hope that Michael finds out on his own, without Justin telling him.

Even if he does, though, it just isn't natural (especially after Mikey ratting him out in 408) for Justin to be willing to go along with Mikey to try to find a solution. It's just ... all kinds of wrong.

Like you, though, it's not Justin I hold responsible ...

Blabber mouth Mikey

Oooo, I'd forgotten that Daph was a med student. Well that just shows how a good story-line can get fucked up by idiot writers.

But do you know what bothers me the most if the story does go the way of the promos? Is that one day, at the most inopportune time(maybe at a big family diner), Mikey will open his big mouth a go, "Hey Justin, do you remember when Brian couldn't get it up, and me and you had to go to a Chinese apothecary to get something so that Brian could get his zing back?"

[sarcasm]I'm sure that will go over well with Brian.[/sarcasm]

And knowing Mikey, you just know it's bound to happen.

heh, the reply feature has gone back to it's old ways.

Yes, that's my fear too.

Not to mention the fact that, after 408, it's what makes it totally inconceivable that Justin would confide in Mikey. He has to know it's going to get back to Brian. Because that moron ... fuckwit ... evil selfcentred frogspawn ... no, it's late in the day, I don't have the energy to think of words to describe him. Because Mikey just would have to let everybody and especially Brian know that he knew, that he was involved, and that he tried to help. He simply could not resist that temptation.

He would simply have to position himself as the 'best friend' that even Justin has to come to for help and advice where Brian is concerned.

You are so right. Daphne is the perfect person for Justin to talk to.

I freaked out when I saw that clip last week. I sincerely hope it was taken out of context. Of course if it wasn't then someone dropped Justin on his head. Why on earth he continues to confide and trust in Mikey is beyond me. M screws him everytime. And not in a fun way.

I like Daphne, I miss seeing her. Truthfully I would enjoy more story lines with her in them. Example: Lose Lindsay and the artist. WHo cares?

Honestly... prefer Lindz and the artist to Em and the football player.

Can not believe that out and proud Em would get involved with this guy for more than one fuck.

He's so not into all that on the lowdown shit.

But know what you mean about more Daph ... and this was the perfect opportunity.

Sacrificed to the 'have to give Hal lots of screen time and keep him and his fans happy and besides Mikey's so cute' delusions of C/L.

Someone dropped me on my head, too. I forgot about the football player. Emphasis on player....

You are so right. Em is much more up-front than that. It seems very out of character for him to be the girlfriend behind (te-he) the scenes. Just one more instance for him to be hurt. I hate to see that happen. Em is one of my favorites.

Hal is ok. Loved him on talk soup. He could go back. It just would never be acceptable for him to be Brian's partner. And I don't care what anyone else thinks about that. lol It just doesn't work for me.
