First, I wanted to thank everyone who has commented on the final chapter of Homecoming. It's been amazing. The donation total is rising nicely.

Second ... I guess I kind of jumped the gun. I've been using Home-building as the working title for the next part of the story for a while now (seriously, months), and I've never really been happy with it. It seemed a little clunky, but I wanted to keep the 'home' thing in there, and I wanted it to be a single word, so I couldn't think of anything else.

of course, as soon as I announce that will be the name of the next part, I finally have the breakthrough moment and think of what the title really should be.

Anyway, overnight, thanks to my subconscious kicking in while I was asleep, Home-building has become Homework.

There are going to be reasons why that title is going to work better anyway, aside from the obvious one that building a home, a real home, is work.

So ... just thought I'd let you know.

Sorry that I didn't have this idea earlier. That's just the way my mind works sometimes.

*sigh*

I hope to get the first chapter up by next weekend at the latest.

Hi everyone. I know I've kind of been missing in action lately. The major project I've been working on for the last few months is just reaching its deadlines. As usual, the client has missed every single deadline set for the stuff we need from them to be able to pull everything together, but we, of course, are still expected to meet our original deadlines despite having had less than half the time we were promised to finalise everything. *sigh*

Sorry, just venting.

Anyway, among all the long days and exhaustion, I've somehow managed to cobble together the next chapter of Homecoming.

Previously, the boys were awarded temporary custody of Gus due to Lindsay's erratic behavior. They need to move into the new house as soon as possible and decide to aim for Sunday. It's now Friday morning, they have to organize stuff - minor things like renovations, painting, buying furniture - for the house and they have to meet with Gus's principal. They're going to have a busy day and they may need some help.

A bit of a preface to this. This chapter has been written and re-written numerous times. I'm finally relatively happy with it. But I'm travelling at the moment. This means that it's been typed into WordPad, so not only has it not been beta'd, it hasn't even had a proper spellcheck.

Apologies all round therefore for any errors, be they typos or glaring lapses in logical progression. But I thought it was time we finally found out what happened when Justin confronted the munchers. So here it is.

Despite being fairly short, this chapter has had numerous revisions which is one of the reasons it's taken so long for me to post it. Next one is already on the go though, and life is gradually getting back to normal after a fairly fraught first half of the year, so hopefully I will be able to do better.

( Homecoming #29: News From the Front )

Believe it or not - finally! Another chapter of Homecoming. I truly apologise for the long wait. It was due in part to my getting sick for the best part of a month, to some particularly stressful stuff at work, and also to the fact that I've actually re-written it three times because it just wouldn't work the way I was trying to write it. Once I stopped trying to force it to do what I wanted it to, and let it do what it wanted to do, things went much better. But I'm stubborn so I kept on persisting long after I should have gotten a clue. Oh, well. Here it is at last.

I suspect that Chris' basket of fruit helped the neurons kick in. Thanks, honey.
