Well, it's St Pat's Day and before I head out to celebrate here's a little offering - a St Patrick's Day drabble.
I'm posting this one in the memory of Ran and Brian.
May their creator's soul rest in peace, sweetened by gratitude for all she gave us, and untainted by any of the bitterness her death has left behind.
Brian rarely, if ever, wears green except in the depths of his eyes and occasionally, though he’d deny it with his last breath, his emotions. He doesn’t drink Guinness, or even Irish whiskey. He’d mock mercilessly the notion that he’s influenced by any “cultural characteristics”.
But Justin’s read the old tales of Cúchulainn and of the Fianna, and has found in them traits, both good and ill, with which he’s very familiar.
So Justin believes that in his heavy drinking, his pride, his fierce loyalty, his creativity, his passion and his sheer bloody-minded pigheadedness, Brian Kinney personifies his Irish heritage.
Happy St Pat's Day, everyone.

Date: 18/3/13 02:41 am (UTC)I just found out that my Irish-American paternal grandfather, who died years before I was born, was born on St. Patrick's Day. That was a fun discovery.
Enjoy!

I find myself drawn to both countries, and both cultures.
