Thank you. I agree about Dan. He was trapped and needed to move on, and the boys needed to have the freedom to make the house their own.
As for Mel ... it's never seemed to me that she has ever cared very much how her actions affected Gus. That whole charade she insisted on when she wouldn't let Lindsay tell anyone they'd separated said it all to me. It was all about her ... no consideration for Gus, for Lindsay, for Michael, or even for her own daughter. Only her feelings mattered. And the fact that Lindsay went along with it made me lose all respect for both of them.
But yes, this is a time for rebuilding on many levels.
