I truly appreciate that compliment because the whole point, to me, is to try to keep these characters as close as possible to the originals - the boys we fell in love with in S1 and even S2 and the end of S3. (Not the weird people wearing their faces but lacking their hearts that we kept getting foisted on us in S4 and S5.)
I agree. I absolutely believe that at the end of S3 we were meant to see them as equals - they even had Brian standing on the lower step so that Justin was taller than him for Heaven's sake! The Justin who simply didn't need Brian's approval to calmly assert his right to wage his poster war against Stockwell (but who wasn't on Brian's case either) was a world away from PinkPosse!Justin - spilling his anger out all over his partner.
They were both forced to regress so far in the last two seasons that they became pretty much unrecognisable.
