Mandy Patinkin

First off ... apologies to everyone that I haven't responded to yet about Reverb. Will be doing that tonight, I hope.

But why I'm posting today is to have a little rave about the wonderful, the amazing, Mandy Patinkin.

He's currently on tour in Oz, and I went to see him last night with some friends.

This morning I just had to go on record as saying that if you get any opportunity to see him perform you should grab it with both hands and thank your lucky stars for it. He was simply amazing. Amazing!

I can't begin to tell you what a consummate showman he is. He was performing at our Concert Hall, which is a great auditorium, but on the large side, and he filled it with his personality and his talent.

He was funny, and touching and sang the most amazing mix of songs from Sondheim to things like Alexander's Ragtime Band and And the Band Played On. It was an extraordinary evening, and I will be forever grateful that I got the chance to see him.

Just thought I'd let you know, in case the chance ever comes your way and you wonder if you should take it.

Truly one of those experiences that makes you know you're alive and that life is just wonderful.

I've always enjoyed his work, but I've never been able to see him perform live. It sounds like an amazing experience m

I saw him years ago in "Sunday in the Park With George" on Broadway and loved him. He was great as Rube in "Dead Like Me".

Would have loved to see him in that. He is an ideal singer for Sondheim, because it's all about the phrasing, and he's a master.

Saw The Lion King and Aida and Donny Osmond

Know what you mean. Am so happy you enjoyed seeing him and his performance was so great. I LOVED him in Chicago Hope. He was marvelous as the neurotic cardiac surgeon who listened to his pants make sounds as he walked to make his creative process work.

I liked him in that, too.

He was simply delicious.

Hi Wren I was driving my car the other day and this song came on the radio and the lyrics seemed relevant to how Brian feels while he waits for Justin to return from New York.

Somewhere deep inside
Something’s got a hold on you
And its pushing me aside
See it stretch on forever

I know I’m right
For the first time in my life
That’s why I tell you
You’d better be home soon

Stripping back the coats
Of lies and deception
Back to nothingness
Like a week in the desert

I know I’m right
For the first time in my life
That’s why I tell you
You’d better be home soon

So don’t say no, don’t say nothings wrong
Cos when you get back home maybe Ill be gone

It would cause me pain
If we were to end it
But I could start again
You can depend on it

I know I’m right
For the first time in my life
That’s why I tell you
You’d better be home soon
That’s why I tell you
You’d better be home soon.

Crowded House

After this song Matchbox 20s Catch my Disease came on and I wondered if that’s what I have as I am still thinking about a TV couple lol cheers Chris

Oh, haven't heard that for ages. Yes, you're right. It's perfect.

I LOVE Mandy Patinkin. Course, my first introduction to him was The Princess Bride, but when I got older, I started seeing him in other things and absolutely loved him. :)

You'd have loved the end of the show. After an amazing (and long) encore which earned him his third standing ovation of the night, he stepped right to the front of the stage, said something like "I have some last words to leave you with".

He paused for a moment, and then said in a whole new accent

"Hello.

My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

It was the perfect way to end the night. Just perfect. After cheering even louder, everyone left laughing.
