This is a a very strange story. Well, it's a Halloween story, and one of the characters is, in fact, a ghost.
I think it's only fair to warn you that it is not by any means a normal BJ fic. Brian's in his sixties, Justin's been dead for thirty years and they haven't even met yet.
It's un-beta'd. I didn't want to give my beta a nervous breakdown.
It's the first part of a trilogy. The second part is set a Thanksgiving fic and the third is a Valentine's Day story. (Oh, yes, I hear you say, a Valentine's death!fic. That will work.)
But as it this part of the story was originally conceived as this year's Halloween fic, and Halloween is slipping away, I decided to post it.
The last warning is that the tense is all over the place. This is because, from Brian's perspective, I started just before the "now", so most of his stuff is looking backwards; while from Justin's I kind of picked up in what was his present and worked through to the "now". I confess that this is a little messy, maybe even confusing (and the main reason I didn't get it beta'd - she would have told me to totally restructure the whole thing and I just couldn't - it wouldn't have worked to do it any other way).
I hope I haven't totally put you off.
Try it, you might like it.
It's actually, I suspect, quite ridiculously romantic.
(All general warnings and disclaimers apply. It's for Adults Only and is purely for my amusement, not for profit. The characters, sadly, do not belong to me.)
