I think Brian would always be tolerant of people getting their needs met - Jenn included. (Although what he'd think if Joanie got a toy boy might be interesting. I suspect he'd say a few halleluljah's LOL.)
I really disliked the end of S4 - in some ways more than the end of S5. Because at least in S5 what was going on was a mutual decision. It was anything but that in S4. That Justin wouldn't even wait to discuss the job offer with his 'partner' was bad enough. That he would take it without any regard to Brian's health status was just unbelievably selfish. And not all the 'oh, he knew Brian would want him to take the job' garbage that the Justin-can-do-no-wrong brigade spouted then and (and probably still do now) ever made it seem any less selfish to me. He didn't stop to think about Brian at all.
And then after the movie gets canned he still doesn't go straight home.
And when he does he wonders why Brian's not falling over himself to leap into some sort of 'committed' relationship.
After having his own needs completely ignored by his 'partner'. After even kind of being lied to for days after Justin got back from that first trip to LA (because every day that Justin didn't tell him about the job he was effectively lying by omission). After being made to feel like the consolation prize, and that Justin would never have come home if the movie had gone ahead, or even if he'd been able to find other work out there.
After all that ...
And Justin wonders why Brian is kind of slow to believe that Justin's ready for some kind of permanent relationship - with him, at least.
Sorry, off the soap box now. But I felt very strongly about that story arc and how it played out. Can you tell? *g*
