new drabble - companion to Cultural Heritage - Once a WASP

I've had a little dig at Brian's roots, now it's Justin's turn




He doesn’t wear preppy jackets and he’s happier in trainers than Gucci loafers or Prada boots. He was never too proud to live in Deb’s working-class house or to work at the Diner.

To the country club set the America he inhabits would seem like a totally alien nation.

But watching him schmooze his way round a bunch of art critics, or charm Kinnetik’s most conservative clients and their wives, and, best of all, knowing he can be trusted to eat at a decent restaurant without embarrassing them both, Brian’s extremely grateful that Justin’s never completely abandoned his WASP roots.

I have to say, in the past I wasn't much of a fan of the drabble as a literary form - I prefer a full meal to just an amuse bouche - but I'm coming to appreciate these little delicacies LOL. Well done!

I have to admit that I feel much the same way about drabbles - the meal as opposed to the amuse bouche analogy is excellent - but there is something about the discipline of writing them that I really enjoy.

Yes, I think he did. And even more, I think he appreciated how Justin didn't let his background determine who he was going to be in the world.
