For those of you who think you've actually heard Danny Boy sung well ...
Honestly, IMO, if you haven't heard this guy, then ...
I heard him do it in concert and I had goosebumps on my goosebumps and the hair at the back of my neck was doing its best to stand on end - no mean feet considering it's quite long LOL
BTW - It has a longish intro - bear with it -- it's worth the wait.

Date: 18/3/12 08:13 pm (UTC)I think what I like about the way Tommy does it is that, while he doesn't shy away from the song's poignancy, he doesn't wallow either. It's the simplicity that appeals to me.
PS - One of my mother's favourite songs was Annie Laurie. I made a complete idiot of myself at one Scottish concert. I was in the front row and this young guy started to sing Annie Laurie and by the end I was stifling sobs. It just brought back so many memories. The MC actually made some reference to how "moving" people had found the performance and kind of glared at me. I'm sure he thought I was a maudlin drunk or something lOL
