As indicated a couple of days ago, I have two fics in the QAF Gift Exchange this year.

It will be a few days yet before I'm allowed to post them here.

But in the meantime, here is a little Christmas Drabble that I hope you find amusing.

Brian Kinney does not do Christmas. His non-conventional family accept this; with two exceptions.

Gus and Justin demand cookies, decorations and of course, a fucking tree, complete with lights and presents.

One of them Brian might be able to ignore, but when they tag-team him, he’s lost.

The loft turns into some fucking Christmas wonderland, perfumed by ginger and cinnamon and lit by multiple strings of lights. Brightly wrapped gifts are piled under the tree and his sonnyboys sit surrounded by glue and color making endless paper chains.

Somehow, Brian doesn’t hate it as much as he thinks he should.

Happy New Year!

Thanks, Chris.

I do love doing drabbles.

I think it's the 100 word discipline that inspires me.

And I love teasing Brian. *g*

Somehow, Brian doesn’t hate it as much as he thinks he should.

Of course he doesn't ;) (Not that he would admit it out loud ;) )

Thank you so much for this extra special treat Wendy :)
I KNOW how tempting it is to continue writing those festive B/J drabbles/one shots (ESP when the QaF extended family is quite a multi-cultutal one :)
It's part of the fun of being a QaF writer

Thank you.

Yes, the QAF family is indeed a multi-cultural one, and all the better for that.

But of course the boys themselves are clearly from a well-established Christian tradition, even if they're not particularly religious, so Christmas stories are very canon-compliant I think.

And you're right, it is part of the fun of being a QAF writer.

Thank you. Yes ... it's funny, because while I actually kind of enjoy Brian's more acerbic side, there's no doubt that in his own way he's a very loving man.

We see that even from the first episode with his "Wendy" talk with Lindsay, and in the way he holds Gus and the "first night on earth" line.

It's that contrast that makes the character so completely real and, at least in my case, compulsively addictive.

It's so much fun to play with.

Thank you. That's a lovely compliment. Trying to capture his essential "Brian-ness" is an ongoing quest for me.

That is very spot-on the Brian I love and always wrote about. Big, tough guy on the surface, soft for those he loves underneath. Well done!

Thank you.

Yes. Brian does love often or easily, and he has trouble expressing it in any of the conventional ways; but when he does love, he loves deeply, unselfishly, and, I suspect, forever.

That's the Brian I keep trying to find, to write about.

You wrote!

Happy New Year :D

You made me write this:

“This is a tree.”

“Very astute, Mr. Kinney.”

“A fucking tree.”

“A beautiful tree.”

“I do not want a tree in the loft.”

“Aw. Look at it. It’s sheer beauty. Green. Festive.”

“We have different ideas of what defines as festive, sunshine.”

“Didn’t you have a tree in your house when you were little?”

“I was never little.”

“Is there a time when you are nothing thinking about sex?”

“Lesbians kissing turn me right off.”

“We should invite them.”

“Only if you are desperate for pain.”

“They would bring Gus and he’d love the tree.”

“You are teaming up on me.”

“That’s the idea.”

“What’s the next thing? Ornaments?”

“Now that you’re mentioning it…”

“Fine. Do whatever you want. I don’t care.”

“And stop smirking.”

And I'm going to have to write more often if it inspires you to do the same.

This was so much fun.

Thank you, Connor. It was like an extra little Christmas gift.

Thank you.

I have to admit I find the concept of Justin and Gus twisting Brian round their combined little fingers endlessly amusing.

Brian's learning that when things are done with people who truly love you, you can enjoy them more.

Plus... Justin and Gus have Brian so tightly wrapped around their fingers, he'd do anything for them. :)

From: [identity profile] wren-kt7oz.livejournal.com
Exactly. He may never want to get glue all over his fingers sticking paper chains together, but I bet he'll wind up helping to hang them. *g*

I wish I could make such great comments like your other friends. I just feel Aww....and love how everyone picked up the slack so Brian wouldn't have to do a thing for Joanie except put her in the ground and leave her there.
For him to be so touched by the realization of what a great family he has. What a delightful, short sentence it's in, but there all the same.

Wren, left this after the story where everyone picked up the slack so that Brian and Justin could have the kids and be with each other for Christmas. It got put in some weird email that keeps being refused so I am putting it here. Sorry.

don't know how to find the story I'm talking about.

Please forgive me.

the fabulous Ms. M
